How To Avoid RSS Overload

RSS feeds are an important part of blogging. This is because you get to read different types of interesting Articles, Press Releases, Case Histories, etc. posted on websites and blogs using the feed reader technology.

But these feeds can make you an addict in no time and that may lead to feed overload.

This happens when you subscribe to a large number of RSS feeds and do not get the time to read them completely. How to avoid this overload? And how to manage your RSS feeds? Through this article I will try to solve these problems for you:

If there is an information overload, then the best solution will be to reduce the overload. This can be done by using Google Reader and then trying to select the best, the most read and the most frequently updated feeds. This way you can delete those websites or blogs which are of least interest to you.

Another way to avoid overloading of your RSS feeds is by properly organizing your feeds. How to do this? There are many ways to organize your RSS feeds, that is, you can start by creating different folders for different types of web content.

For example you can create a main folder and add all those feeds that you follow every day and are truly essential to you in it. Then you can make another folder for adding all news related sites or blogs. And finally you can create an ‘unread but still important’ folder for those articles which you want to read, later on when you get time.

Technology is at your side because now you have plenty of notification tools that let you know via a simple sms or instant message when an important site or post has been updated.

Such tools are essentially required for most online businesses and for majority of bloggers who would like to know any information update the first time itself.

If it’s getting more and more difficult to manage your RSS feeds overload, you can transfer your feeds to other feeds managing sites such as Postrank. These sites allow you to filter your feeds in terms of the comments or links for a post.

Finally if you don’t want your RSS reader then you can just throw it away and try other methods to access information. Such sites are very fast in pulling your favorite blogs or contents from your accounts. For example you can try www.lazyfeed.com.
